Helsinki Prison is a closed prison with 309 places for men. It holds both sentenced prisoners and remand prisoners. Helsinki Prison was built in 1881.

Visiting a prisoner
Supervised visits are arranged on Saturdays between 9.15 and 13.00.
Prisoners book the visiting time beforehand and inform their visitors of the time. Due to security checks, visitors must report to the prison gate at least 15 minutes before the actual visiting time.
Visitors must report to the gate on the day of the visit at the following times:- between 8.30 and 9.00 for a visit that begins at 9.15
- between 10.10 and 10.30 for a visit that begins at 10.45
- between 11.40 and 12.00 for a visit that begins at 12.15
Accessibility of the facilities
Helsinki Prison is not fully accessible. People using assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, can visit the prison, but it may require special arrangements. Please contact the prison staff in advance.
A designated parking space for visitors with disabilities or reduced mobility is next to the main gate of the prison.
